Family Engagement

• Foster timely, clear, and consistent two-way communication with families by providing calendars, updates, and information about school activities, curriculum, and assessments—in language parents can understand, to the extent practicable.
• Offer flexible options for parent-teacher conferences, including in-person, phone, and virtual formats, to support strong home-school partnerships and meet families’ diverse needs.

• Provide families with clear, accessible information about academic expectations, standards, and evaluation methods, along with tools, resources, and training to support student learning, literacy, behavior, and goal-setting at home.
• Host two Title I Parent Nights annually and offer ongoing workshops to strengthen home-school partnerships and increase family capacity.

• Create a welcoming environment for all families by encouraging and training volunteers, offering opportunities to support school events, and recognizing family involvement throughout the year.

• Encourage meaningful family involvement in school leadership, improvement efforts, and decision-making processes.
• Ensure parent representation on school and district committees and support parent organizations, i.e. PTA, in aligning their goals with Bellamy’s mission.

• Share information about community programs, events, and services that support student learning, health, wellness, and safety—including resources for academic, nutritional, and social-emotional needs.
• Collaborate with local organizations, businesses, and agencies to provide enrichment opportunities, health education, screenings, internet safety resources, and connections to comprehensive family support services.

• Attend school every day, arrive on time, and stay for the entire school day.

• Support my child’s education by making time for academic practice, including daily reading.
• Ensure my child attends school every day, arrives on time, and is ready to learn.
• Stay informed about my child’s progress and communicate regularly with their teacher.
• Review my child’s weekly take-home folder for important information and graded work, signing and returning items as needed.
• Read, sign, and return interim progress reports and report cards.
• Partner with school staff to support positive behavior and a safe learning environment.

• Teach the North Carolina Standard Course of Study in a supportive and effective learning environment that helps each student meet or exceed academic achievement standards.
• Clearly explain academic expectations, instructional goals, grading practices, and promotion standards to students and families.
• Hold parent-teacher or student-led conferences to review this compact and discuss student progress.
• Provide regular updates on academic progress through conferences, progress reports, report cards, phone calls, virtual meetings, and email.
• Communicate the Code of Conduct and school-wide expectations to students and parents.
• Offer both enrichment and intervention opportunities to support student learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Maintain high expectations for both academic performance and behavior.
